Summary: Fine Philadelphia print commemorating the life and mourning the death of Abraham Lincoln in 1865, with oval alumen photograph on original oval mount and text on each side of the image, in contemporary gilded frame. To the left of the image are significant dates in Lincoln’s life, and to the right is a lengthy quote from Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address (“With malice toward none, with charity for all…”). Below is a poem beginning, “The Great Republic loved him as its Father.” There are two known extant copies of this rare print, at Indiana University and the Indiana Historical Society.
