"In Congress, July 4th 1776. The Unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America..." Summary: Tyler's engraving was the first decorative print based on the original Declaration manuscript. The exactness of the signatures is impressive given the difficulty of copying them freehand. Tyler, a professor of penmanship, sold copies by subscription -- Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and John Quincy Adams were the first to place an order. [Benjamin Owen Tyler]. Broadside, [Washington, 1818], engraved by Peter Maverick. Cleaned and tissue-backed closing minor tears and folds, a bit ragged along the left margin outside the platemark, with slight scrape to James Wilson's signature. Inventory# 20725 Sold
