Appointment of Charles Kingsbury as Assistant Adjutant General of Volunteers, signed by Lincoln and Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. On the staff of Brigadier General John F. Reynolds, Kingsbury took part in the siege of Yorktown, the Seven Days Battle at Richmond, and Mechanicsville. After Reynolds died at Gettysburg in July 1863, Kingsbury served under General Phil Sheridan until the end of the war.
